Sanae Yamada

Sanae Yamada (b.1987; Gunma, Japan) currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan. 

Yamada has exhibited and presented her works widely internationally in exhibitions and film festivals. By focusing on the relationships that exist between environments and in turn their inhabitants, Yamada examines the way in which the body and mind are positioned within their very surroundings. Yamada is especially interested in the symbiotic relationships present in natural environments, both current and intergenerational. Yamada’s practice, predominantly research-based, takes the form of video, installation, and drawing aims to document these relationships while examining to weave multiple perspectives including of nonhumans. 

She has completed her M.A. in design at Tokyo University of the Arts, and her B.A in visual communication design at Musashino Art University in Japan.
