Róbert Makar

Born in 1970 in Handlova, Slovak Republic.

Education

1988-1994 Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava Studies concurrently in several studios of the Department of Printmaking, and the Department of Painting.

Asst. Prof. at the Department of Printmaking, Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava.
Asst. Prof. at the Department of Printmaking, Faculty of Fine Arts, Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica.

In his work Makar has set the rules of intelectual game in which he plays his three aces. Their names are the reality, the illusion and the abstraction. These are equivalent to three dimensions – the material element, the mimetic graphic approach and the principle of abstraction. The strict separation of these individual elements and their consequent connection represents one of the most interesting interpretations of a reality in contemporary Art.
