Jude Anogwih

Anogwih’s work has been shown internationally and nationally in many exhibitions including the International Society of Experimental Artists 29th Annual Juried Exhibition; Videonale (Lagos, Nigeria); Biennale Jogja XII (Yogyakarta, Indonesia); “Shifting Africa, “Mediation Biennale (Poznan, Poland); Changjiang International Biennale of photography and Video art curated by Bisi Silva, Wang Qingsong and Cui Can Can; Urban Cadence: Street Scenes from Lagos to Johannesburg, Gund Gallery (Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio); Analogue Eye-Video Art Africa, National Arts Festival (Grahamstown, South Africa); Jardim Canadá Centro de Arte (Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil); 5th International Festival of Video Art, FIVAC 2013 (Camagüey, Cuba); Imagined Communities, Golden Thread Gallery (Northern Ireland). He was selected as a Goethe-Institut Moving Africa Participant at Salon Urbain de Douala, Cameroun. He was awarded a Goethe-Institut Fellowship to dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel, Germany, and the 2019 ISEA Cutting Edge Award, among other awards. Anogwih’s work is in public and private collections.

Jude Anogwih holds an MFA degree from The University of Alabama, MA in art history from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and the BA with honors from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, in Creative Arts. He is a founding member and co-coordinator of Video Art Network Lagos, member International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA), College Art Association (CAA) and SECAC (formerly the Southeastern College Art Conference)

His work explores social issues of shelter, migration, movement, mobility and community. The resulting artistic outcome tells stories of openness, connectivity, and continuity that link interchanges of construction, communality, (dis)location, intents, dreams and aspirations.
